The School of "School Politics"

Yesterday, I spoke to a Middle School Principal, named Tim. I speak to a lot of principals. That's one of the things that I do with my co-author of Escaping the School Leader's Dunk Tank, Rebecca Coda.

Tim is stressed. Tim is tired. Tim feels defeated. Sometimes, he feels like nothing he does is right. He hates to be hated and he knows that he cannot please everyone. Tim feels the weight of the world on his shoulders and he sits at the top of his own career wondering how a school principal can feel so awful. See, Tim's new Superintendent hates him and Tim knows it. Tim wasn't hired by his new Superintendent, so he can see the writing on the wall for being replaced with someone that his new Superintendent desires. Maybe it's called nepotism. Sheer politics. Unfairness. Maybe it's just reality or bad luck. Whatever it is, it feels awful for Tim.

Tim is learning about the politics in schools, first hand.

When you think that tonight's "closing of the polls" takes place as you get ready for a new day tomorrow and we have a new president- elect provide a victory speech, there is one "school of politics" that will continue on, relentlessly, and take time away from our students and staff. While politics will always exist in politics, there is a school of "school politics" that we are trying to uncover in Escaping the School Leader's Dunk Tank which will be coming soon from Dave Burgess Consulting Inc.. We are trying to cork open a book that will blow the doors right off the barn. We are here to support school and school district leaders everywhere who must deal with the politics of "school politics," headed by adversaries of all kinds. We don't want YOU to be the "next" dunk tank target.

Come swim with us soon. Keep a look-out for the dunk tank: #SLDUNKTANK. We want you to prevail when setting sail as a school leader, not drown without a life-jacket.

Our schools, our students, and our livelihoods depend on it.
